Makeya helps people who have experienced emotionally abusive relationships or emotional neglect in childhood find meaning and build healthier relationship patterns. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Makeya Featherstone is committed to helping clients rebuild their sense of self and strengthen their voices. She earned her Master of Social Work from the University of South Carolina and her undergraduate degree in Psychology, with a minor in Children’s Advocacy Studies, from the University of South Carolina Upstate. Makeya supports individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, and challenges related to communication, trust, and relationship dynamics. Upon request, Makeya is also open to incorporating faith and spirituality into the healing process.
Makeya is trained in a variety of therapeutic methods, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Problematic Sexual Behavior Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (PSB-CBT), Brainspotting (Phase 1), and Gottman Method Couples Therapy Training- Levels 1&2. She also employs crisis intervention strategies and mindfulness techniques, consistently emphasizing the importance of resilience and self-awareness. Through various methods, she helps clients shift their focus, teaching them that while external challenges may seem overwhelming, the true strength to navigate through them lies within.
In her free time, she enjoys embracing her introverted side, seeking quiet moments away from the noise. She enjoys reading and writing, and whenever possible, she likes being surrounded by nature. She values being present in each moment and eagerly anticipates opportunities to explore new areas and create lasting memories with her husband and family.
